FRAUD AND MISUSE OF AUTOROLA’s COMPANY NAME

Unfortunately, we occasionally experience cases where fraudsters misuse Autorola’s company name by creating fake car listings. In these ads, they pretend to represent Autorola and attempt to lure private buyers with offers of vehicles at unrealistically low prices, giving the impression that the transaction is taking place through us.

Important to Know: We Do Not Sell to Private Individuals
Autorola exclusively deals with professional car dealers and businesses. We do not sell vehicles to private individuals – not online, by phone, or via messaging services.

This page is for those who have been contacted by fraudsters pretending to be from Autorola. We want to help you protect yourself as best as possible.

How do I recognize fraud:

  • Autorola does not sell cars to private individuals – not online, by phone, or through messaging apps
  • Autorola does not post car listings on external platforms such as Autoscout24, Facebook Marketplace, Carvago, or similar
  • Autorola will never ask for instant payment, MobilePay, or similar forms of advance payment. We have heard of cases where a private individual expresses interest in a fake listing and is then contacted directly – often with a convincing message and a fake payment request
  • All transactions, payments, and communication are conducted exclusively via our official websites

What to do if you have been targeted by fraud:

  1. Cease all contact with the individual immediately
Do not respond, do not click on links, and do not share any further information
  2. Report the ad or profile on the platform where you found the listing
Most platforms offer features for reporting fraud
  3. Report the email in your mail provider
Flagging the message helps stop similar emails for you and others
    • Outlook (Microsoft 365 / Outlook.com): Open the email → Report or Report phishing
    • Gmail: Open the email → three dots (⋮) → Report phishing
    • Apple Mail / iCloud Mail: Move the message to Junk and choose Report if prompted
    • Yahoo / other providers: Look for Report phishing or Report spam in the message menu
  4. Contact your bank – even if you haven’t paid
    • Your bank can flag the fraudster’s account
    • Your bank can help protect others
    • Your bank can investigate possible reversals if others have been affected
  5. Report the case to the police or your local cybercrime unit
Every report helps in the effort to stop fraudsters
  6. Share all related materials with us
Please send us all information you received from the suspected fraudster. This includes emails (preferably forwarded as attachments .eml/.msg with full headers), screenshots of chats, listings or profiles, and — most importantly — any payment-related documents such as invoices, receipts, bank account/IBAN details, transfer confirmations, or instructions to make a payment.

Providing these materials enables us to assess the incident, assist banks and law-enforcement where appropriate, block repeat offenders, and strengthen our safeguards for everyone going forward. If possible, keep the originals intact and do not delete them until we confirm we have what we need.
